STEAM Program

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math

City of Promise has transformed the community’s computer lab in to the STEAM Lab.  It is an afterschool program for youth in grades K-12 in the City of Promise Community.  Students are broken into two developmental groups, grades K-4 and 5-12 respectively.

City of Promise has installed all new computers and has in addition to homework-help and tutoring emphasized a STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).  Partners in this endeavor include the UVA Gates Millennium Scholars, Piedmont Virginia PVCC College4Kids, and Light House Studios.  Students have taken courses in robotics, engineering, computer science, and film production. The STEAM Program is regularly evaluated using the Youth Program Quality Assessment (YQPA). For more information or to find ways to support the STEAM Program please call or e-mail the City of Promise office.

The STEAM Lab is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30pm-5:00pm.
